Moses used spies to spy out the land in which God was going to give them that was inhabited by liars who were worshiping false gods and were idolators. God hates idolators and liars; they make you work twice as hard to serve them, and they keep you away from HIM, the true creator of heaven and earth.
Laban Jacob’s father in law was known to be one who became distraught when his daughter Rachel hid his idols he went into a state of panic in search of them. Rachel had hidden them under the Camel’s saddle and sat on it, telling him she is having her period and is not well to stand up.
Laban was Abraham’s in-law father of Rebekah Isacc’s wife, mother of Esau and Jacob Laban did not begin as an idolator but lost faith in the God of Abraham and sought help and comfort from other sources. He tricked Jacob into another seven years of labor to be with his daughter, with whom he fell in love with. Jacob, you may remember, was a trickster himself and stole the birthright away from Esau.
Rachel Jacob’s wife and eventually, after a long time, becomes the mother of both Joseph and Benjamin, which become the tribes that face west in the wilderness tabernacle. It is where Christ lays his head on the cross Joseph a picture of Christ and Benjamin the covering over him that takes on a dual role as Saul was a Benjaminite he becomes Paul God’s greatest champion.

Rachel represents the children of the earth, while Leah represented the children behind the veil, the angels.

In Jericho, we find that Rahab, a harlot is in the lineage of Jesus because she did the right thing and helped God’s spies who went in to see what they were up against. Not to spread lies among the people, nor were they, liars. God had the architect’s plans for Jericho. Their walls were wide, and many had housing on the walls people gathered daily in the city to watch the Parade.
That is why we build large structures today on bedrock, not on sinking sand. When the trumpets blew, and the feet stomped, the sound and the weight on the walls caused it to fall. I know another who has built his system on sinking sand, and we need to do parades and stomp our feet. Jesus is coming.
No matter what sins we may have committed, God works through our repentance and faith to deliver us from destruction and eternal death.
Law: God will punish all who fight against Him and refuse to fear and trust Him, as happened with the people of Jericho.
Gospel: God’s mercy is even greater than His wrath, for He forgives and restores to life all who repent and fear Him, as happened with Rahab.
